We all have times in our life when everything seems too much. It can be frustrating to know what you want but to have no idea how to get it and to have the continuous sinking feeling that with each passing day, you’re not getting any closer to your dreams.
When you feel like you know where you want to be in your life, but you Feel Lost and don’t know which way to go, and cannot see a way forward but also can’t go back, this is what I personally like to refer to as Life Block. Life Block, it seems is much like writers block, and can strike at any time. From personal experience, however, it does tend to rear it’s ugly head more often than not during times of Stress, Despair, or Frustration.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could all be completely focused and proactive about our goals 100% of the time?This however, is neither practical or possible. We are all human, and are imperfect creatures, which makes the challenge of finally overcoming our personal obstacles all the more rewarding.
Identifying Life Block
Identifying Life Block is the first step in overcoming it. When you know what you’re dealing with, it makes your job that much easier to work through the invisible obstacles you have placed in your path and to re-establish your connection with yourself and your desires.
Read through the following statements, and try to define if they are similar to what you’re feeling at the moment.
If any of the above statements sound like what you’re currently going through, chances are you have some form of Life Block. As you already know, your problem isn’t knowing what you want it’s trying to work out ‘where to go from here’, ‘where to start’, and ‘how to motivate myself to go for it’.
It’s very likely that your Life Block has surfaced because you’re going through or have recently gone through a stressful time in your life. Things perhaps have not been going the way you want and you have placed added pressure on yourself to achieve your goals and create your ultimate life. This pressure along with the stress has caused your brain to completely ‘freeze up’ and apply the brakes – like and ‘Intention Overload’.
As you will know from playing with puzzles and blocks as a child, you cannot force the pieces if they don’t fit in the correct place. No matter how much you try to fit the wooden triangle block into the square hole, it won’t go in. The same is also true for your Intentions. You cannot force things to happen, simply because you wish it them to be or because you believe it’s what you really want. That’s not how the Universe works.
If you’ve recently been pushing for a change in your life and trying your utmost to make it happen, this could be the reason for your current Life Block. With your constant push for your new reality to manifest and the continual disappointment that it hasn’t happened yet, your negative beliefs have begun to take over and hold a priority in your mind, whether it’s conscious or not. Because what you really want hasn’t happened yet, inadvertently you’re starting to believe that your desires will never manifest – no matter what you do. This is where your current immobilisation stems from.
You still know what you want, but your secret negative belief that it’s never going to happen anyway are stopping you from taking any further action.
One of the first steps in releasing your Life Block is to stop pressuring yourself to achieve your desires. This may sound backward, but don’t get me wrong – I am not suggesting that you abandon your goals or forget your dreams, I am merely pointing out that you need to tone it down a notch. Pushing yourself to ‘make it happen’ obviously isn’t working – in fact it’s having the opposite affect, therefore, it’s time to take a different approach.
Overcoming Life Block
Believe it or not, simply identifying that you have a form of Life Block is a major step in removing it from your reality for good. The belief that there is something wrong with you is almost completely banished with this simple realisation. It is not a problem that you have personally. It is simply an obstacle that has arisen which has stemmed from negative belief systems. The good news is that negative beliefs can be replaced quite easily.
If you need further convincing, take yourself back into your past. Think about a time when you wanted something, you wanted it more than anything. You asked for it and hoped for it and visualised it and then, amazingly a short time later, you got it – what you had wished for and visualised, happened. This scenario has happened to all of us, most likely more than once. Pinpoint this event in your life and replay it in your mind. When you’ve re-lived those feelings of happiness and satisfaction remind yourself that it is possible to manifest your desires. What you want will happen, because you have evidence right in front of you of when it has happened in the past.
Now what you have to do is allow yourself to Let Go. Simply having the intention of your desires is enough. It is not up to YOU to constantly think of HOW something will happen, or WHAT needs to be discovered to achieve a goal. Let Go of your Intentions and be confident in the knowledge that the Universe is working out all the details for you. Keep your wits about you and your eyes open to any new opportunities or actions you could take and you will be on your way toward realising your desires. Trust that you will follow the path as it is revealed to you. Remind yourself constantly that in the past you have asked for something to happen and change in your life and it has – therefore this current goal is not only possible, it’s inevitable. Let go of any pressure, and Trust that you’ll know when the time is right to follow through and realise your dreams.
Acknowledge that you don’t know exactly how to proceed right now, but that you have the guts to go for it anyway. You have made the choice to make this change in your life and you know you’re prepared to follow the flow of actions and opportunities as they arise, so you need to release the desire to be In Control of the entire situation. Allow the Universe to be in control.
It can also be daunting and difficult to get motivated about your goals when you have so many different things you want to achieve. Release the desire to change too much too soon in your life and focus on one thing. Make a list of everything you would need to Be, Do and Have in order to see this goal through to completion. When you’ve made the list, re-work it so that it is listed with the easiest steps at the top of your page, moving down to the biggest and most difficult steps at the bottom.
For Example, Let’s say your goal is to switch Careers from your current job in Hospitality to working as a Travel Agent. You have made a list of all the things you would need to Be, Do and Have in order to have achieved the Goal of becoming a Travel Agent. Your list includes items such as:
When you re-work your list, at the top of the page you place the steps which are fairly easy to take and continue down the page.
So, even if you cannot implement the most difficult aspect of your main goal right now, you can certainly change some things, which will put you on the right path toward what you desire.
It is also very likely that when you begin to make small changes inline with what you wish to achieve, the Universe is put to work even faster for you. Think about it – with our above example, if you took the slightly uncomfortable step of volunteering on a local city tour on your days off, you are already putting yourself into the path of the Travel Industry and setting the wheels in motion. An amazing opportunity could arise, such as a job offer for an entry level position in a Travel Agency, which you never would have been open to if you had simply continued on your path in your current situation.
Banishing Life Block for Good
Thankfully, Life Block is only temporary and can be cleared with a little bit of understanding and determination as outlined above. If your desires have not yet been manifested, know that you’ve already taken the first step, because you’ve identified what you want. Trust that by having this knowledge in your mind, you are already putting the Universe to work to create the events, circumstances and situations to bring them into your current reality.
It’s natural to become immobilised at times and to lose hope, but remember that nothing is ever lost. Keep the following steps in mind to assist you when you feel any negativity or hopelessness creeping back in.
Don’t ever let other people tell you that what you want isn’t right for you. Nothing you want for yourself could ever be wrong.What would they know? They are not YOU. You know what’s best for you and YOU know what you want. It’s easy for us to allow people in our lives who we value to influence our decisions. As much as these people think they’re helping you by voicing their opinions and concerns about your chosen path, they are really only hindering you by not showing their support. Silence them by asking for their trust and support – just as you would offer yours to them.
Whether or not what you desire seems achievable – because you want it, it’s right for you!
Allow your Life Block to be a lesson in your journey to your new reality. This was a test, and by working through it and showing your determination that you’re not going to let your negative beliefs about the situation win, you are proving your worth. To stay as you are and where you are is easy – to choose the unknown path of your true desire takes courage and guts and that’s what you’ve done, so congratulations.
You have made the choice to go for what you want, now it’s up to you to fight your way through this current obstacle and move on to the next level. Consider that as you move through your current state of Life Block, your desires will be manifest that much quicker, since you have now shown your determination to your goal. This in itself is an exciting thought and one that should no doubt give you ample motivation to get to it and continue on your Life Path.
